More about Bordeaux Index - London's leading fine wine merchant
Established in 1997, Bordeaux Index has grown to become one of the leading global fine wine merchants with offices in London, Hong Kong, Singapore and Los Angeles, as well as a rapidly growing international customer base. Our product offering covers all the traditional wine growing regions of Europe plus selected wines from outside Europe.
During 2009 BI introduced LiveTrade, the world's first on-line trading platform for fine wine with firm bid and offer prices available 24 hours a day. This service won us the "Innovator of the Year" award, at the 2009
LiveTrade also produces an easy-to-read graph, ‘The Bordeaux Index’; this is a real time index that tracks live changes in the prices of the most liquidly traded wines on the LiveTrade market making screen. Rather than pricing monthly, our technology facilitates dynamic, daily updates and will allow users to monitor the market at their convenience. It's the most transparent, accurate and simple way of gauging the market performance of Bordeaux. For the first time, investors will no longer need to base their decisions upon monthly market movements. Just as importantly, it does not require a statistics degree for interpretation. Registered users are also able to view individual price graphs for all of the wines traded on LiveTrade with data going back to 1st Jan 2008.
This service helped us to win us the “Bordeaux Specialist” award in 2010, at the International Wine Challenge.
In December 2011 Michael Spencer became Chairman of BI. Michael is the founder and CEO of ICAP plc, the world’s leading inter-dealer broker, and a former Conservative Party treasurer; he is also one of the world’s most passionate and knowledgeable wine collectors, with a particular love of Bordeaux and especially the wines of Pomerol. Michael brings unparalleled business acumen and a world-class contacts book to BI.
Our London offices have a private dining room and purpose built tasting room, which enables us to offer more tastings for clients, in addition to regular tastings and wine dinners at restaurants around London. For individual private hire enquiries, please contact your account manager.
Our wine school is run by Michael Schuster, acknowledged internationally as an expert wine taster, wine writer and wine teacher with over 25 years experience. His wine courses range from a widely acclaimed “Beginners Course”, via “The Fine Wines of France”, to a much sought after three day “Blind Tasting” event for trainee Masters of Wine, which takes place each May.
Buying and selling wine is only part of the BI package: we also offer the finest wine storage facilities in the UK. To ensure your wine is kept in perfect condition, we store our customer reserves in The Colerne Reserve, a brand new, state of the art wine storage facility operated by Octavian – the world's leading long term fine wine storage provider. Our own BI-dedicated team checks every case in and out, thus giving you the reassurance that your valuable wines are in the best possible hands. In addition each case will be logged and barcoded on receipt making every case individually traceable.
