“I’m here to confirm that they are not only excellent but there are any number that are indisputably better than their 2009 counterparts. In fact, I will even go so far as to say that once people have a chance to taste a sufficient number of them that they will indeed start asking just how good is good because the 2010s are genuinely excellent.” - Allen Meadows
“Whereas 2009 is looking like a vintage that superimposes its own imprint very firmly on any geographical characteristics, 2010 seems to be a vintage in which local differences and terroirs are able to express themselves much more clearly.“ - Jancis Robinson
The Vintage
2010 is a stunning vintage with near perfect balance and a real sense of terroir. Undoubtedly, it is also a Burgundy lover’s vintage - and not in the back-handed compliment sense. Every appellation, vineyard and producer expresses their style clearly and yet the wines show real restraint and elegance. Remarkably, they are incredibly approachable already, but possess all the elements required to mature and develop for many years to come. This is Pinot Noir and Chardonnay at their absolute best.
We have managed to secure good allocations of some of BI’s favourite growers (not easy in a vintage that is 30-50% down on normal yields!) and have spent time and energy in hunting down a few new names to add to the BI portfolio of Burgundy growers: Christian Moreau in Chablis, Lignier-Michelot in Morey-St Denis, Bruno Colin in Chassagne and two young stars of the future in Marc and Alexandre Bachelet at the Santenay-based Bachelet-Monnot.
How to Order
Some wines sold out immediately after our tasting earlier this month, but there are still many fabulous examples to sink your teeth into. The range of wines is large and the selection process can be complicated, so we recommend customers contact our team directly to discuss wines of interest. Alternatively, if you know what you'd like, you can:
- Order a limited selection through our website; follow these links to view and purchase White Burgundy and Red Burgundy from 2010.
- To download the full list of available wines, please click here. You can download the list, complete your order and email the completed form to your salesperson
As volumes are so reduced, some of the wines will have to be allocated; we will endeavour to do this as fairly as possible.
