Bordeaux Index - Environmental and Social Responsibility
We are aware of the impact businesses can have on the environment and our aim is to behave responsibly.
We continuously look for ways we can improve our efficiency in a wide range of areas from energy conservation to supporting the community.
These are some of our initiatives to date.
We strive to remain paper free. Our Live Trade on-line trading platform allows for top Bordeaux wines to be bought and traded on line. Our daily offers, invoices and statements are communicated by email where possible. We encourage our customers and suppliers to pay and receive payment on-line.
We recycle all of our office paper, plastic and glass. Our product packaging is reusable and we are introducing air packs to keep our wine safe in transit without having to use excessive polystyrene packaging
We re-evaluate our energy usage on a quarterly basis. Already conserving energy via motion sensor lighting, selective air conditioning and ensuring employees are aware of waste we are always looking for ways to improve. Our storage facilities have been carefully selected to make the most of natural conditions, our wine retains optimum quality without the need for introducing energy inefficient controls.
We consolidate shipments from overseas suppliers. In addition, our personal deliveries are carefully planned to ensure minimal mileage and CO2 emissions.
We encourage our people to leave their car at home by promoting the Governments salary sacrifice cycle to work scheme and providing shower facilities and safe cycle storage. We keep our air miles to a minimum. Whilst our popular Wine Tours take into consideration the wishes and needs of our clients, rail travel is encouraged where possible. With a comprehensive range of technological communications Executive travel between our Hong Kong and UK offices only needs to be undertaken when strictly necessary.
Support for the Community
Our Managing Director acts as a trustee for the Charity "The Sick Children's Trust" and we support a wide range of local schools and charities with regular donations and cooperation for events.
