Through our new Hong Kong office, Bordeaux Index were one of only two UK traders to acquire a stand at the popular Vinexpo 2008. Attendance broke all previous records with more than 7600 visitors through the door by midday of the final day. Spread over Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday we saw unprecedented demand and interest from mainland China in particular, but also Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Indonesia and Singapore. Hong Kong's reputation as the hub of the Asian fine wine market appears cemented (just see prices fetched at recent auctions in HK!) and in time we should see more storage facilities cropping up to service spiralling demand. However, we are proud to work closely with what we consider is the premium storage facility in Hong Kong for fine Wine: Crown Wine Cellars. We are also pleased to announce a new delivery service for clients from the UK to Hong Kong. For GBP 55 per case of 12 bottles, BI will have your wine air freighted to Crown, where it can be stored or delivered to your door. This is a monthly service leaving on the 15th of each month. So if you need wine for that coming birthday or special occasion, be sure to plan in advance.

The team in Hong Kong has tripled in size over the last 3 months and there are plans for further growth. We recently recruited Keith Ho and Constance Lee, both of whom are experts in their fields and have worked in the industry for over 6 years. Constance, as a former sommelier and wine educator looks after our trade accounts and Keith tends to the needs of our local private clients.
