Post En Primeur, we've relished the opportunity to trawl through our list and pick out some juicy Burgundian gems to highlight, with great value, top scores and competitive prices. With over 150 lines on offer,* the names involved are stellar: Mugnier, Coche-Dury, Roumier, Dujac, Leflaive, Roulot, Cathiard and Sauzet all feature but the real guts of this cellar is based on two extraordinary producers – Luciene Le Moine and Meo-Camuzet. Both offer wines from some of the most revered vineyards in the region including Beaux Monts, Chaumes and Suchots in Vosne, and Boudots, Vaucrains and Murgers in Nuits St Georges.

The wines of Meo-Camuzet need little introduction. Over the years the estate has acquired key vineyard sites and secured grower contracts for those vineyards which elude their reach – and even in these sites, the vineyards are managed to Jean-Nicolas Meo’s exacting standards to enable him to create his own vision of start-to-finish perfection. These are undoubtedly amongst the finest wines from the region.

By contrast, Mounir Saouma and Rotem Brakir of Lucien Le Moine work with (so-called) ‘finished wines’, bought from carefully-selected high-calibre growers, which they then work their magic on. Whilst they employ a multitude of techniques to achieve their chosen style, the wines give a sense of being remarkably pure and unmanipulated. In addition, the quantities produced are miniscule.

There are a range of vintages included in the cellar – including a little of the extraordinary 1993 Bonnes Mares from de Vogue – but the majority of the wines offered are from 2007-2009. The 2007s are fabulously fruited and forward, well-suited to early enjoyment; the 2008s are a little more dense and complex and capable of 20+ years ageing; and the 2009s are the best of both – with the lushness of fruit suitable for early enjoyment but a depth and structure to go long-term.
