Gary Boom, Managing Director

Gary Boom was born in South Africa, and holds a BSc in finance from the university of Cape Town. Between 1985 and 2001, Gary worked for a range of London money brokers specialising in interest rate options, and was a director at Intercapital Group. Gary founded Bordeaux Index in 1997 in London, opened an office in Hong Kong in February 2007, and an office in Singapore in December 2011. Outside work, Gary loves travel, Burgundy, shooting and Arsenal.

Andrew Bruce, Director

"My father never really worked, but got cash from various sources. He'd make commission on a deal and blow it on the horses"... Not strictly true, as Andrew says his father also spent some money on fine wine, which is how he developed his love of claret and subsequently, all the wines of Europe. Since joining BI, Andrew has met and made friends with people for whom wine is a passion. His palate is now in a state of confusion!

Sam Gleave, Sales Director

Sam started out as a wine buyer for Japan Airlines in 1990, having fallen into the role when actually applying for a different position. It didn't take long for Sam to fall in love with the industry - in less than a year, he was tasting 1990 Bordeaux out of barrel. In 1995 Sam joined the "proper" wine trade at one of the UK's royal warrant holders, moving to a youthful BI in 1998. Outside wine, Sam's passions are Gillingham Football Club and Kent County Cricket Club.

Sebastian Rowe, Director and Trade Sales

Seb started in the wine trade in 1991 through the traditional route of van driver and worked in various areas of the wine trade until he finally found his niche in sales. Seb was one of the founding members who assisted in setting up BI in 1997, proudly becoming a director and partner of the business in 2004. He spends his spare time sharing fine wine and food with family and friends, listening to live music, following Chelsea and planning which city to run his next marathon in.

Simon Eddleston, Senior Private Sales

Having graduated from the University of Manchester, Simon started in the London wine trade in 2003. Collecting various WSET exams (and some scholarships on the way), Simon began trading fine wine in 2006. As an individual who thrives on client interaction, Simon enjoys few things more than opening great bottles to share with like-minded people. Sometimes though, he is made to regret that his wife's handbag fund has somewhat dwindled...

Catherine Bauer, Private Sales

Catherine considers herself 'a true French woman born and bred'; growing up in a land dedicated to food and wine, Catherine has worked for the last 10 years in the fine wine industry and completed WSET exams along the way. Anthony Field-Johnson, Private Sales

After graduating from Edinburgh University, Anthony unerringly decided to join the wine industry. He spent two years with a major wine retailer completing his WSET exams and travelling the wine world to Champagne, Rioja and Germany. After a year working as the sommelier for a renowned local restaurant in Cape Town, he returned to London to further hone his skills at various fine wine merchants - both within the on-trade and private sectors. Anthony joined BI in 2013.

Aaron Turner, Private Sales

After completing a degree in Marine and Freshwater Biology, Aaron decided that the world of statistics was not as enjoyable as that of wine. He found his way into the wine industry with an internship at a web based wine company, and went on to work his way up the ranks to manage a store for a large UK wine retailer. Aaron has an ever changing preference with wine, but is currently exploring the wines of the Rhone. That said he has yet to turn down a glass of anything new!

He joined BI in Jan 2013, focusing solely on fine wine sales to the on-trade. Burgundy is Adrian's first love, with the incredible diversity of Spain and Italy not far behind.

Tom Chadwick, Trade Sales

Tom first joined the wine trade back in 2000 after returning from a hedonistic trip to Tuscany, when he first learnt about the joys of great wines. Moving up the ranks at various merchants, including a stint in his family's auction business, Tom looks after both Trade and Private clients. Professional highlights include Tom's invitation to a 'once-in-a-lifetime' tasting of vintage Madeira; he still dines out on drinking 1790 Sercial and 1931 Quinta do Noval.

Philippe started at BI in 2009 and is now doing what he's most passionate about - Purchasing. Philippe enjoys running, hiking, travel – and of course, great wine.

Gaelle's favourite wine regions include Bordeaux and Champagne, and one of her favourite places to enjoy wine is the French Riviera!

Red BordeauxDirector

Doug Rumsam, Managing Director - BI Asia Pacific

Doug stumbled into the wine trade late one night in Dijon. A few years later, after working with a major wine retailer, he joined BI London in Sales. In 2007, he moved to Hong Kong to set up BI's first overseas office. Doug firmly believes there is a time for both Bordeaux and Burgundy (and often tries to squeeze a little Italian into the equation as well). He spends his spare time travelling, playing tennis and practising Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Guy Ruston, Private Sales

Born and raised in leafy Surrey (England) to British parents, it is claimed that Guy actually stole his name from a Frenchman. However, he owes both his name and interest in wine to his parents'Francophile phase in the'80s. It was at university in California that this interest began to evolve into a possible career path. After returning to the UK, he joined BI London in 2007, and BI Hong Kong in 2010. Guy is also an obsessive collector of music and a massive sports fan.

Joe Marchant, Director [Mobile: +1 (323) 823-9299]

From a background in investment banking, Joe joined the wine world in 2003 and has never looked back. Setting up BI's investment group in 2007, he's as adept at designing large trading strategies for wine funds as arguing the minutiae of the smallest corners of the Cotes de Nuits.  Frequently found these days proselytizing the merits of lesser known communes in the Northern Rhone (at least when the Burgundy runs out).

Jon Roach, Director [Mobile: +1 (323) 823-9317]

Principle in developing BI's global broking business, Jon has been instrumental in opening up new markets for clients to buy and sell their wines. Although nursing a closet predilection for heavy hitters from the southern Rhone, Jon is most happy carousing with mature Spanish dowagers of the larger disposition (read large format Rioja from the 60's and 70's….) As for old Bordeaux, as a wise man once said, that goes with everything….
