1. Minimum Order Policy
We have a minimum order of £500 (per order, ex. VAT and duty)
2. Private Sales
Deliveries over £2,000 within mainland UK will be free of charge. Those below and outside mainland UK will be charged at cost.
3. Trade Sales
All wines are sold ex-LCB Tilbury. Export customers can be put in contact with a suitable freight forwarder.
4. Ex Cellars
Wines sold ex. cellars will be invoiced under bond - there are no extra shipping charges to pay - however onward delivery charges duty and VAT will be charged as appropriate upon shipment. Prior to the 2006 vintage, an ex cellars charge of £3.75 per case will be added.
5. Payment
5.1
Unless an account facility is held, payment will be on invoice. Exports accounts are payable 30 days from invoice but prior to export of goods, unless otherwise agreed
5.2
In the event of non payment of an account within the specified terms, we reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee of up to 20% of the outstanding amount, or actual losses incurred by Bordeaux Index as a result of cancellation if greater than 20%. Bordeaux Index reserves the right to utilise any monies held on account or otherwise received from or on behalf of the customer to discharge any such cancellation fees.
5.3
Bordeaux Index shall be entitled to sell any wines which it is holding or storing on behalf of a customer to discharge outstanding invoices (whether on account of cancellation fees or otherwise). Bordeaux Index will account to the customer for any cash balance held after discharging all outstanding invoices.
5.4
Bordeaux Index now accept major credit and debit cards. (Switch, Solo, Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, Electron, American Express). A percentage charge will be added to cover transaction charges for anything but a debit card.
6. Title
Title to all wines shall remain with Bordeaux Index Ltd until all sums due from the buyer are paid in full.
7. Non-Collection
Any wines not collected within one month of release date will be stored in our private client reserves at a cost of £7.50 plus VAT per case, per year, with a minimum rental charge of six months.
8. Quality Control
Bordeaux Index adheres strictly to a condition code regarding all wines. All suppliers have been informed in writing that capsules and labels should be in good condition, and that ullage descriptions should conform to base neck or better. In the case of most older wines, the colour should be deemed acceptable. In the event that wines are corked or out of condition for consumption, it will be at the discretion of Bordeaux Index that replacements be made available, without obligation. We are fastidious with regard to provenance and storage conditions, so problems of this nature rarely occur. We do not purchase US strip-labelled stock or stock that has been shipped back into Europe from Americas or Asia unless otherwise specified or specifically requested.
9. Force Majeure
The company will not be liable for failure to meet agreed obligations due to prevailing circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
10. Jurisdiction
All contracts are subject to English law and jurisdiction. All wines are offered subject to market movement and remaining unsold.
11. Duty and VAT
Wines are offered for sale under bond, but some are available duty paid. Those required for UK home use are subject to duty & VAT at the prevailing rates. Current rates are as follows:
VAT rate 17.5%
Excise duty rate for wine £19.26 per case of 12 bottles
Excise duty rate for Champagne £24.67 per case of 12 bottles
Excise duty rate for Port £25.68 per case of 12 bottles
12. Transfer Charges
Transfers from London City Bond Tilbury, to London City Bond Silvertown, Barking or Purfleet will be liable for a transfer charge of £6 per order. Transfers to Vinotheque will be liable for a transfer charge of £8 per order.
