Krug itself needs no further introduction – one of the most famous Champagne houses and, as some would argue, possibly the best? Production is tiny (although confidential), but this is very much a boutique Champagne producer. The wines range from the consistently pleasurable Grande Cuvée (as good as most 'prestige cuvées') to the heights of the vintage and the single vineyard Champagnes Clos de Mesnil & Clos d'Ambonnay.

The house style is very much towards the richer, with wines being fermented in old oak barrels, and then not being released until they are at least 8 years old . However, with this weight & concentration, there is also a delightful freshness which enables the wines to age magnificently – the 1937 is still amazing! The King of Champagnes?

"...all Krug's wines are small masterworks...if the opportunity arises, never miss the chance to drink a Krug!" – Richard Juhlin
