En Primeur Latest Releases

by Giles Cooper (Head of Marketing & PR)

This afternoon we have seen three significant Right Bank releases.

Two of the key properties in the Moueix portfolio, Bélair-Monange and La Fleur-Pétrus, have both been released – albeit quantities available are very small indeed. At £1100 Bléair Monange is above the top of our spread but is certainly one of the wines of the vintage, with scores ranging from 95-99 from Neal Martin, James Suckling and Antonio Galloni. We loved it and we whole-heartedly agree with Neal's observation, that "it represents the first Bélair-Monange that ranks among JP Moueix's finest wines since the family acquired the property in 2011".

La Fleur-Pétrus was one of our most hotly anticipated wines and as such is sold out to pre-orders.

We also had the impressive St. Emilion Pavie Macquin released at £565.

This morning we had two key releases.

The stunning 2015 Pichon Baron is now available at £995. With 96-98 points this is potentially the highest-ever scored Pichon Baron from Neal Martin, who sums up best how far this wine has come in the past decade or two: “I don't mind saying it, but this wine is as good as a First Growth”.

Also released is the very fine St. Emilion Clos Fourtet at £715. This is another of the commune's real performers, and with the same score as Ausone and Angélus and a decent discount versus comparable back vintages (the 2005 is £1200 for example), it looks a pretty smart buy. The challenge as always will be finding it as not a huge amount is produced.

Having followed COVID-19 Government advice, we have temporarily closed our London office until further notice, we are however operating as normal. Click here to read more
