En Primeur Latest Releases

Two major arrivals today following our busiest day of the campaign to date yesterday.

The day began with Mouton Rothschild at the 'first growth price' of £4260. We adored the way this year’s Mouton combined its signature panache and decadent fruit with a linear precision which characterises the very best wines of the vintage. When Neal Martin makes close comparisons with such legends as the 1986 and 2010 you know you are onto something; in addition this was Jancis Robinson’s highest scoring wine of the vintage alongside Margaux, with 19/20, just pipping the likes of Petrus, Lafleur and Cheval Blanc.

Hot on its tail came the final St. Julien, Ducru Beaucaillou at £1270. Over the past decade or so, Ducru Beaucaillou has risen to become one of our absolute favourite Châteaux and they have created a sublime claret in 2015. We loved their 2015, its stunningly vivid 95% Cabernet giving it incredible clarity, with a superb backbone of fine acidity and perfectly ripe tannins. Its depth, intensity and seductive texture make it a wine of clear long-term potential – however easy to drink it may be in its youth...
