En Primeur Latest Releases

by Giles Cooper (Head of Marketing & PR)

Pape Clement 2016 was released this morning at GBP 790 and Pape Clement Blanc at GBP 1185 - both hugely impressive performers.

A serious contender for most-improved property over the past 10 years, Pape Clement is the jewel in the crown of owner Bernard Magrez and the results of his investments are sensational. It is clear that this estate sees the great duo of Haut Brion and La Mission as targets in its sights and the work the team are putting in is inching them ever closer.

James Suckling, who gave the rouge 97-98 points, said: 'This is phenomenal with a density and finesse that are hard to remember for this wine' whilst Neal Martin (95-97 points), said 'I love the delineation and detail here. The palate is medium-bodied with a graphite-infused entry, plenty of black fruit, saline in the mouth with great depth and cohesion on the long and tender finish.'  - high praise indeed from both critics.

The Pape Clement Blanc, too, received high praise from the critics with Galloni referring to it as 'rich and inviting to the core. A wine of notable depth and viscosity' (92-95 points). This tiny-production white was undoubtedly one of the best we tasted during our trip.
