Lafite Rothschild 2019

The truly brilliant 2019 Lafite has been released today at GBP 5112, a reduction of 15% on the 2018 release price. With 97-99 from The Wine Advocate and 99-100 from James Suckling, this is an excellent price.

99-100pts James Suckling “Complex aromas of blackcurrants and lead pencil. Incredible. Graphite and tar. Stunning. It’s full-bodied, yet shows such harmony and polish. Elegance and complexity with finesse. The tannins are so integrated and endless. It goes on for minutes. 94% cabernet sauvignon, 5% merlot and 1% petit verdot.”

Chateau Palmer 2019

The 2019 release shows precisely how they have not only wine quality, but the consumer, in mind. Chateau Palmer continues to carve a unique place in Bordeaux’s hierarchy in terms of global recognition as well as quality, constantly challenging the First Growths’ hegemony.

Alter Ego de Palmer 2019

Chateau Palmer’s second wine, its Alter Ego, is never less than a stylish crowd-pleaser that nods to the beguiling sophistication of the Grand Vin yet stands distinct. On its own merits it can claim to be one of the finest wines of this enigmatic appellation.

94pts Jane Anson “ an outstanding Alter Ego that puts the emphasis on pleasure. Tannins are extremely precise but feathery and pliable”

GBP 540 per case

L’Evangile 2019

The highly-rated, Lafite-owned L’Evangile, has been released this morning at GBP 1752. This is a reduction of 19% on last year - and whilst many thought the 2018 L’Evangile was the best yet, our newsflash is that we believe the 2019 surpasses it. We have never before tasted a L’Evangile barrel sample of such energy, precision and finesse. It is truly a beauty!

97-98pts James Suckling “Lots of black-olive, crushed-berry and wet-earth aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, yet polished with a very fine, velvety texture from the tannins. It’s long and structured with a blue-fruit and stone undertone to the palate. Some sage, too. More balanced than in the past. Extremely persistent on the palate. 83.5% merlot, 16% cabernet franc and 0.5% cabernet sauvignon.”

GBP 1752 per case/12 IB

Pontet Canet 2019

Pontet Canet has once again led the charge in an En Primeur campaign by releasing early; despite initially coming out without notes and scores, the proprietors were clearly confident – and this has been borne out with a brand new 98-100pt score from The Wine Advocate’s Lisa Perrotti-Brown.

98-100pts Lisa Perrotti-Brown, robertparker.com “Full-bodied, rich and fantastically opulent, the palate offers layer upon layer of ripe, finely grained tannins and seamless freshness, finishing very long and mineral laced. A real head-turner, this beauty is absolutely going to steal your heart!”

GBP 775 per case/12 IB
